Western Memorial Regional in Corner Brook is starting a new volunteer program to help people find their way around the hospital.

Rob Kenny, vice-president of human resources at the hospital, said they are looking for friendly faces to help people navigate the hospital's hallways.

"[The volunteers] would assist them to find their way throughout the organization, if they were asking for a particular department, or as they were leaving the facility," he said.

According to Kenny, volunteers could also help provide directions and information as people were leaving the hospital.

"We just thought this would be a friendly face and a nice enhanced service to be able to provide."

Kenny said the volunteer program wouldn't take away any work from the unionized staff at the facility.

He added they are interested in anyone with a few extra hours of spare time, and an interest in helping others.
