Police are looking for a woman who mugged a senior citizen in Corner Brook on Tuesday night.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary said a woman, 82, was mugged in the Broadway area of the city.

Another woman pushed her to the ground, and then ran off with her purse, which contained cash, identification and some personal items.

The woman made her way to a local business for help. Police received the call around 11:55 p.m.

She was taken to hospital to be checked overnight to see if any bones were broken.

"Police are very concerned over this unprovoked attack on a vulnerable member of our community and the investigation into this incident is ongoing at this time," the RNC said in a statement.

A police dog unit was brought in to help search for the suspect.
