Mount Pearl armed robbery suspect may face charges in several cases

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary arrested a 19-year-old man late Thursday night in connection with an armed robbery that took place at a Needs convenience store in Mount Pearl.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary believe the man they arrested on Thursday night in connection with an armed robbery at a Mount Pearl convenience store may face additional charges in relation to other robberies that have recently occurred in the area. 

The RNC said a man who was carrying a weapon held up a Needs convenience store on Barbour Drive around 11:30 p.m.

The man had entered the store and demanded cash and cigarettes, and left on foot. 

RNC officers and the K-9 unit located and arrested the man a short time later, and recovered a quantity of cash and a weapon.

The accused was charged with robbery, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public and disguise with intent. 

He appeared in provincial court on Friday morning. Charges for the additional robberies are to follow.
