A man accused of stealing poppy cans in November has had more charges added to a list that includes theft.

Ryan Wight, 29, is charged with stealing six of the Legion cans between Nov. 5 and 10.

Wight also is facing other theft charges, an assault charge, and breaches of court orders.

It was expected that Wight would plead guilty to charges on Tuesday but because charges have been added, his case has been set over until Dec. 19.

Wight is one of three people charged in the St. John's area in connection to the theft of money that was being collected for veterans.

Police said they charged a 63-year-old man in connection with a poppy can theft that occurred at Tim Hortons on Park Avenue in Mount Pearl in November.

The RNC also said a 24-year-old woman was facing charges following other poppy can thefts.

Police said the incidents are not connected.
