Misses Enid and Eulalia pitch in for a park
Comedians Mary Walsh and Cathy Jones have reprised their 22 Minutes characters in a bid to raise money for the redevelopment of the oldest park in St. John's.
The Bannerman Park Foundation is raising $3 million for the first refurbishment in decades of the downtown-area park, with the City of St. John's on board to match each dollar that is raised.
The refurbishment plan includes a new playground, improved grounds and amenities such as a refrigerated ice trail for family skating. A new garden opened last year.
Plans, though, for a new pavilion hit a bump in November when city council refused to allow the demolition of the existing brick bandstand.
Walsh, who is the honorary chair of the campaign, teamed up with longtime colleague Jones on Thursday to shoot a video to help encourage donations. The two spoke to us, in character, in the video above.
