An international student at Memorial University of Newfoundland pleaded not guilty Thursday to a charge of attempted murder.
Masih Allahbakhshi, 28, allegedly attacked a fellow student on a walking trail on Signal Hill on April 7.
Allahbakhshi was released on bail earlier in May, after being found fit to stand trial following a seven-day psychiatric assessment.
The alleged attack sent Allahbakhshi and the other student over the edge of a cliff.
Allahbakhshi, from Iran, was enrolled in MUN's engineering program, but he is not allowed on campus while the case is before the courts, and has had to turn his passport over to police.
He will be back in court in October for his trial.
