Marystown driver killed while checking problem with car
RCMP say poor weather conditions were a factor
A 19-year-old man from Marystown was struck and killed Wednesday night on the Burin Peninsula highway while he was checking out a potential problem with his car.
RCMP said the man had pulled over after he heard a noise in the rear of his vehicle.
The man was outside his car when another vehicle travelling in the same direction collided with his vehicle, pinning him in-between.
The man's girlfriend was inside the car and wasn't injured.
The incident happened just south of the St. Bernard's-Bay L'Argent intersection
RCMP said the road was slippery at the time, and that were whiteouts in the area.
The driver of the second car, a 21-year-old man from Marystown, was taken to hospital to be treated for shock.
An RCMP official said the force does not anticipate laying any charges.
