The Toronto Marlies doubled the St. John's IceCaps 6-3 Saturday afternoon at the Ricoh Coliseum in Toronto.
Andrew Gordon gave the IceCaps some life at the 6:11 mark of the first period, when his shot from the right sideboards found the back of the net for his second of the season. J.C. Lipon was awarded the only assist.
A little over two minutes later, with the IceCaps on a five-on-three powerplay, Will O'Neill fired a wrist shot top shelf to draw the IceCaps even. Kael Mouillierat and Brenden Kitchton picked up the assists on O'Neill's first marker of the year.
The IceCaps took a 3-2 lead in the first period, when Jerome Samson scored his second of the campaign on a laser from the right face-off circle at 13:49. Jason Jaffray and Adam Lowry had the assists on Samson's powerplay marker.
The team will return home to play the Hershey Bears Friday night at Mile One Centre in St. John's.
