Marine Atlantic ferries were back in service early Saturday afternoon, following a disruption because of weather.

The ferries were held in port in both North Sydney and Port aux Basques, due to high winds Saturday morning.

Winds were reported to be gusting as high as 120 km/h in some areas of the Avalon and the south coast of the island.

The Highlanders, Leif Ericson and the Blue Puttees are said to be running on schedule.

Strong winds also affected some arrivals and departures from St. John's International on Saturday morning.
