A man who was reportedly thrown out of a moving vehicle was taken to hospital in St. John's late Friday night.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary and an ambulance responded to the incident in the downtown area of the city just before midnight.

The victim, 27, was taken to the Health Sciences Centre with what police called non-life threatening injuries.

The RNC said the circumstances regarding the matter are under investigation — but it's been determined the man was on a number of court orders at the time of the incident.

Police said he was charged with failing to obey the orders and will make a court appearance at a later date.
