A man from Newfoundland's west coast is still in hospital after being beaten with a baseball bat.
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary said the incident happened around 3 a.m. on Tuesday, on a street in Stephenville Crossing.
The victim, 29, was taken to Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital in Stephenville, and was later transferred to the Health Sciences Centre in St. John's, with what are said to be serious injuries.
A 34-year-old man has been charged with aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
The accused remains in custody, and is scheduled for a bail hearing on Friday.
