A Newfoundland man is dead following a single-vehicle accident in Alberta.

David Dominie, 35, was the driver of a pickup that went out of control and crashed on a highway about 100 kilometres east of Edmonton.

The accident happened around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Dominie was living in Fort McMurray, Alta., but is originally from Newfoundland.

He was the only person in the truck, and died at the scene.

The RCMP say they believe speed was a factor in the crash.
