Man driving stolen vehicle dies after crash

Police said a man driving a stolen SUV on the west coast of Newfoundland died after a collision on the highway on Monday morning.

RCMP in Deer Lake said the vehicle struck a highway sign and rolled over near St. Judes around 4:30 a.m.

The male driver was taken to hospital in Corner Brook where he later died.

According to police, the male passenger in the vehicle suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries in the crash.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary said the vehicle was stolen from a home on Atlantic Avenue in Corner Brook.

Police are still investigating the incident.
