Man charged after lying about robbery
A St. John's man is being charged after police say he lied about being robbed.
The man, 29, told Royal Newfoundland Constabulary officers that he was robbed by two men with a steel pipe.
He said it happened on Nov. 25 while he was in his car on Bannerman Road.
Police said they investigated and determined that the robbery in question never happened.
The man was charged with mischief and breach of court orders.
He's due in court in the new year.
