A man was charged with impaired driving in St. John's on Tuesday morning after a collision on Blackmarsh Road.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary said when officers tried to stop the vehicle, it crashed into a parked car.

RNC charged the driver, 44, with impaired driving, refusing the breathalyser, and driving without insurance.

The man also owed $6,000 in traffic fines.

Police impounded his car and held the man for a court appearance.

No injuries were reported in the collision.
