A man who rolled his car on the Trans-Canada Highway early Saturday may have escaped serious injury, but not the long arm of the law.
RCMP said they happened upon the overturned vehicle shortly after 1 a.m., a short distance east of the Avondale Access Road.
The car was going east when it went out of control and crossed the median, ending up on its roof in the westbound lanes.
"Further investigation revealed the driver was impaired," the RCMP stated in a news release.
They said the male driver was arrested at the scene and is scheduled to appear in provincial court in St John's at a later date.
There were no details on injuries or the extent of damage to the man's vehicle.
