The RCMP says two people who were found in a cabin on Newfoundland's west coast died from gunshot wounds.

The bodies of a man, 67, and a woman, 54, were found inside the cabin in the Southwest Brook area on Sept. 9.

An autopsy was performed by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner on Wednesday.

Police said they are not looking for suspects and there is no public safety concern.

The names are not being released at the request of the family.
