A 54-year-old man is in custody facing several charges of committing sexual offences against a young girl, including child luring.

He was arrested on Thursday in St. John's, following an investigation of inappropriate sexual messages between the man and a girl on what police call "a known internet web-site."

He's facing charges of making sexually explicit material available to a child, attempt indecent exposure to a child, luring a child, and making arrangements to commit a sexual offence against a child.

Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of Newfoundland and Labrador (CFSEU-NL) Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit made the arrest following their investigation.

The 54-year-old will appear in provincial court today.
