Two trappers in a wooded area northeast of Churchill Falls had a close call on Saturday morning, when one of them required prompt medical attention.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary responded to the emergency around 7 a.m., and with the assistance of Nalcor, Fire and Emergency Services NL and Med Flight Newfoundland and Labrador, the injured trapper was safely transported to Happy Valley-Goose Bay for treatment.

Police said the trappers were highly prepared to survive. Their equipment included a satellite phone, SPOT GPS and a temporary shelter to protect them from the elements.
