Labrador City man killed in snowmobile crash

Shortly before 3 a.m. on Saturday, police received a 911 call that a 19-year-old man had been involved in an accident on a trail and was non-responsive.

A Labrador City man was killed in a snowmobile accident early Saturday morning.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary said the incident occurred on a trail in the Southwest Arm area, east of Labrador City.

Police say they received a 911 call shortly before 3 a.m., informing them that the 19-year-old had been involved in an accident and was non-responsive. 

Ground search and rescue personnel, police and paramedics responded, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim's name has not been released at the request of the family.
