Two masked men brandishing knives held up a convenience store in central St. John's Thursday night.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary said the armed robbery took place at 11:18 p.m. at the Needs Convenience store on LeMarchant Road.

The suspects left the store with an undisclosed amount of money and cigarettes.

Police said both men were wearing dark-coloured hoodies and were carrying knives.

The RNC's K-9 Unit was called to the scene, however the men got away.

There were no injuries reported.
