A teenaged runner from Kippens, on Newfoundland's west coast, has made an impressive show on the national scene.

Jillian Forsey, 17, won the Canadian junior women's cross-country title in British Columbia over the weekend.

Forsey ran the five-kilometre course in 17:21.44, just 2.5 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher.

Forsey now qualifies to represent Canada at competitions in Jamaica and Poland.
