Justin Chipman denied bail, charged following MUN shooting

A man implicated in a shooting at Memorial University in St. John's earlier this week will spend at least two more weeks in police custody.

Justin Chipman allegedly fled from police during a sting operation on car break-ins.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary said an officer felt threatened and fired at Chipman as Chipman began to speed away from the scene.

The 26-year old is facing 14 charges, including assault with a vehicle and assaulting a police officer.

He will be back in court on March 7.
