The East Coast Music Association announced a number of honorary awards in St. John's this weekend, including one given to Irish and Newfoundland musician John White.

White was one of the recipients of the 2015 Stompin' Tom Award, which was created to honour musicians who have made long-term contributions to music in Atlantic Canada.

White had a long musical career, but also appeared on a number of television specials and became a household name in Newfoundland and Labrador when appearing on CBC's All Around the Circle.

We've found some vintage video of White being interviewed by CBC in 1995. Check it out.
