The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary in Corner Brook has charged a 21-year-old man in connection to property damage that occurred at the city depot four years ago.

Between June 19, 2010 and June 20, 2010, three vehicles that were parked at the depot on Charles Street were extensively damaged.

The RNC said someone used a pick axe to break windows, headlights and taillights. Body panels were also damaged.

Police estimate the total cost of the damage to be in excess of $27,000.

At the time of the incident, the RNC was able to obtain evidence at the scene, however a suspect could not be identified.

When information came back from the National Crime Laboratory this past winter, police were able to secure a judge's permission that ultimately led to the accused's identity.

On Thursday, RNC charged the man with mischief exceeding $5,000.

The accused is scheduled to appear in provincial youth court on Sept. 24, as he was a minor at the time of the incident.
