Impaired arrests keep St. John's police on the hop
It may have been coincidence, but St. Patrick's Day was a busy one for impaired driving arrests in the St. John's area.
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary stopped five people for impaired driving on Sunday and early Monday, as bars across the city hosted St. Paddy's celebrations.
One of them was impaired by a drug, the rest by alcohol.
In one of the cases, a public tip pointed the RNC toward a Conception Bay South man who was arrested in central St. John's.
In another, a man was arrested after his vehicle crashed. He was not injured.
Meanwhile, police put another three people in the drunk tank, although they were not charged.
