IceCaps claim major AHL marketing award
For the second consecutive year, the St. John's IceCaps organization has been honoured with the American Hockey League's Sponsorship Department of the Year Award.
St. John's was also among eight teams recognized for achieving a 90 per cent or greater season-ticket renewal rate at the annual AHL marketing meetings that concluded on Friday in Springfield, Mass.
The IceCaps claimed the award, due in part to its corporate partnerships and promotional efforts.
Danny Williams, president and CEO of the IceCaps, said the recognition caps an impressive season on and off the ice for the organization.
"From hosting the league's first-ever international All-Star Classic in February, to advancing to the Calder Cup Finals in June and with an NHL exhibition game just around the corner, this latest achievement is further evidence of the impact the St. John's IceCaps continue to make in the hockey world," said Williams.
The IceCaps have sold out every home game in their three-year existence: 114 regular-season games and 19 playoff contests.
