The St. John's IceCaps can advance to the AHL Calder Cup finals with a win Saturday night against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in Pennsylvania.
The IceCaps lead the best-of-seven Eastern Conference final 3-1 on the strength of back-to-back wins on the road this week.
St. John's shut out the Penguins 5-0 on Wednesday before edging the home team 2-1 on Thursday.
It's the second series in a row in which St. John's lost the opener before storming back with three straight wins.
The IceCaps had a similar 3-1 lead over the Pens in 2012, but lost the next two games before eventually winning the series in seven games.
Game time Saturday night is 8:35 Newfoundland time. Games 6 and 7, if necessary, would be played back in St. John's on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the Toronto Marlies and Texas Stars are deadlocked at two games apiece in the Western Conference final.
Game 5 was set for 4:30 (NL time) Saturday afternoon in Toronto.
