Hypothermia killed man found dead in Placentia snow
RCMP have determined that hypothermia killed Joseph Flynn, the Placentia man found dead in the snow outside his home on New Year's Eve.
A criminal investigation into the death of Flynn, 55, is still underway.
The RCMP appealed Thursday for the public's help in piecing together the final movements of Flynn, who was found in snow at the bottom of the stairs outside his home on Flynn's Lane.
In a statement, the RCMP said officers "are speaking with members of the community to determine all the facts surrounding his final hours."
The force's major crime unit is working with officers from the Placentia detachment on the case.
Even though the investigation is still underway, the RCMP statement added, "There is no risk to the public."
The RCMP asked anyone who may know about Flynn's final hours to contact the Placentia detachment at 709-227-2000, or to go through the anonymous Crime Stoppers service at 1-800-222-8477.
