Hotel owner hopeful about repairs after fire
The owner of a hotel damaged by fire on Wednesday in Happy Valley-Goose Bay is trying to stay optimistic about the future of her business.
The fire caused extensive damage to the kitchen and restaurant in the Mariner's Galley wing of Hotel North.
The hotel on Loring Drive is currently down 14 rooms.
Owner Judy Hillier says guests at the damaged hotel have been moved to rooms in another hotel she owns in town.
"I suggest that people book a room before coming to Labrador, into Goose Bay right now," Hillier said. "It's pretty crazy in this area."
Despite the extensive damages, she is staying positive about the repair process.
"It's like everything else in life," Hillier said. "We have to pick up the pieces and try and put it back together and move forward."
No one was injured in the fire. It started in the kitchen, but the cause is still under investigation.
