Hooters restaurant to replace Club One
Social media in St. John's went into a buzz over the weekend amid news that Club One, a high-profile live music venue in downtown St. John's, was closing and will be replaced in the spring by a Hooters franchise.
"Well, the secret's out," the Sundance Complex Twitter account tweeted on Sunday, confirming rumours that a Hooters restaurant was coming to George Street. The owners of Club One manage other properties, including the Sundance Bar & Grill and Dusk Ultra Lounge.
Club One will be closing its doors in March, when renovations will start to turn the site into a Hooters restaurant.
Hooters is well known — if not notorious — for hiring waitresses who wear tight T-shirts that emphasize their busts.
The news sparked numerous conversations on Twitter and Facebook. "The divorce rate in N.L. will be on the rise lol," one woman commented on the Sundance Complex's Facebook page.
Club One's final live show will be staged Feb. 21, with Halifax-based Gloryhound headlining.
