Home-heating fuel, gas costs take a tumble
The Public Utilities Board has ordered a cut in home-heating fuels, even though few consumers will be topping up their furnaces this month.
The PUB ordered a one-cent cut in the cost of propane used for home heating. Propane sold in tanks for cooking is not affected.
Gas prices also dipped slightly in Thursday's weekly setting, with the retail ceiling dropping by 1.2 or 1.3 cents per litre, depending on rounding for taxes in different pricing zones.
The change brings the maximum price of a litre of self-serve unleaded gas on the Avalon Peninsula to $1.388.
Diesel prices dropped by as much as 2.9 cents per litre.
