A home in St. Mary's Bay was destroyed by fire Wednesday morning.

RCMP say initial indications suggest residence is a total loss

A home in Mount Carmel, St. Mary's Bay, burned to the ground Wednesday morning.

RCMP said they were called to the town at about 11 a.m. and found local firefighters already battling flames coming from the residence.

Fire crews were not able to save the house. Police said it appeared to be "a total loss."

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. A fire investigator is waiting for the scene to cool off before trying to determine the cause.
