The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary was told just before 10 p.m. that a driver had struck a car parked on Old Topsail Road, and then left the scene.

Minutes later, someone reported that a car was burning in a parking lot in Bishop Meaden Manor, a nearby seniors' complex.

The burning car matched the description of the one involved in the hit-and-run.

Police said it appears that the fire was intentionally set.

No injuries have been reported.

The RNC is searching for suspects in the case.
