High-speed chase, collision keep RNC busy in Mount Pearl
It was a hectic evening for the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary Thursday night as officers dealt with a couple of incidents in the central part of Mount Pearl.
At 9:05 p.m., a child was struck by a vehicle on Commonwealth Avenue.
The RNC said the six-year-old was taken to the Janeway Children's Hospital, with what were believed to be minor injuries.
The investigation is continuing.
Then at 11:55 p.m., police were involved in a high-speed car chase in the same area.
The chase continued for about 10 minutes before police backed off for public safety reasons.
The RNC said the vehicle they were pursuing reached speeds over 100-kilometres per hour.

About two hours later, officers arrested a suspect on Thorburn Road in St. John's.
A man, 19, was charged with flight from police and dangerous driving.
He was released and will appear in provincial court at a later date.
