Newfoundland and Labrador MP Jack Harris endorsed New Democratic Party leadership candidate Thomas Mulcair on Wednesday in Ottawa.
"Tom Mulcair stands out as the one who has the experience and skills necessary to defeat Stephen Harper in the next federal election and help us form the first NDP government," said Harris, MP for St. John's East.
Mulcair, the MP for Outremont, Québec is running against six other candidates to lead the New Democratic Party of Canada. A new leader will be chosen March 24.
Support for Mulcair on Wednesday also came from The Straits-White Bay North MHA Christopher Mitchelmore, St. John's city councillor Sheilagh O’Leary and CUPE president Wayne Lucas.
The province's other NDP MP — Ryan Cleary — also supports Mulcair, as does St. John's North MHA Dale Kirby.
