The Newfoundland and Labrador Government has reached a tentative agreement with the Association of Allied Health Professionals (AAHP), which represents about 600 public employees.
A news release issued on Wednesday said the tentative four-year agreement includes the same framework as previously-reached deals with NAPE and CUPE.
The contract will see a five per cent salary increase over the term of the agreement, consisting of a zero per cent salary increase in years one and two, two per cent in year three, and three per cent in year four.
Additionally, all employees will receive a signing bonus of $1,400 on a pro-rated basis, in year two of the agreement.
“We have been successful in negotiating this third tentative agreement in recent weeks, and I would like to thank all those involved in the negotiation process for their hard work and patience,” said Premier Kathy Dunderdale.
"The same framework is in place as with the agreements reached recently, providing an overall five per cent salary increase, and benefits in recognition of our public employees.”
Jerome Kennedy, minister of finance and president of Treasury Board, said government is pleased to reach the agreement to the satisfaction of both parties.
“This deal, on the heels of agreements with other public sector unions, is a great step forward for our public employees," said Kennedy.
The agreement will be voted on by AAHP members in the coming weeks.
