A woman working for Google is asking people in the St. John's area for help after her camera was stolen out of the company's vehicle.

She was hired to take photos for online maps, but her company car was broken into sometime between Monday night and early Tuesday morning.

The vehicle was parked outside a hotel near LeMarchant Road in St. John's.

She said the car window was smashed and a backpack containing two Canon cameras was stolen from the vehicle.

According to the woman, she had pictures on one camera that include personal photos of her family's graves in Lewisporte and Birchy Bay.

A memory card also contains pictures taken at Gros Morne and Signal Hill.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary is investigating the theft.
