A man from Newfoundland's west coast is facing a string of charges after he tried to steal gas Thursday afternoon.
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary received a report that a man had stolen fuel from a gas station in the Murphy Square area of Corner Brook.
The RNC arrested the St. George's resident, 19, but he managed to escape from officers.
He was found several hours later and charged with theft under $5,000 and breach of probation.
On top of those charges, he also faces charges for having no driver’s license, an unregistered vehicle and no insurance, as well as for escaping lawful custody.
He will appear in court Friday morning to face these charges.
