Three schools in Gander were put in lockdown mode this morning.

The RCMP said that just after 10 a.m., someone at Gander Collegiate received a threatening letter.

As a precaution, Gander Collegiate, St. Paul's Intermediate School, and the College of the North Atlantic were all locked down for about 90 minutes while the RCMP investigated.

Gander Academy, the town's elementary school, was locked down for a shorter period of time until the school's parking lot could be checked.

Some parents, who said they were very concerned in light of the school shooting in Connecticut on Dec. 14., did show up outside the schools.

The lockdown orders were all lifted by 11:30 a.m.
