Frances Peddle, N.L.'s oldest resident, turns 108
Frances Peddle, the oldest person in Newfoundland and Labrador, marked a huge occasion with family and friends in Stephenville Crossing Thursday.
She turned 108. Peddle is originally from Trinity Bay, and resides with her daughter, Margaret Bennett.
Bennett said her mother is very excited about the big birthday celebration.
"She couldn't get over it. I told her yesterday evening, I said, 'Mom, now you're the oldest in the province,'" said Bennett.
"'Wow', she said, 'Oh', I guess people will be here tomorrow.'"
To prepare for the momentous occasion, Peddle was having her hair done on Thursday morning, .
Peddle's progeny is also significant.
She has six children, 60 grandchildren, 92 great-grandchildren, 57 great-great grandchildren and four great-great-great grandchildren.
