A makeshift memorial has been set up to remember a motorcyclist killed in a collision that police have linked to drunk driving.

Flowers and heartbreaking messages have been attached to a pole at the intersection of Kenmount Road and Polina Road, near where a 27-year-old motorcyclist collided Friday with a pickup truck.

The motorcyclist succumbed to his injuries after the collision.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary said the 65-year-old driver of the pickup was impaired at the time. Police said he took a left-hand turn on to Kenmount Road, and the eastbound motorcyclist slammed into the driver's side of the truck.

The truck driver faces charges of impaired driving and impaired driving causing death.

The RNC said its investigation is still continuing.
