A man was taken to hospital with reported serious injuries after a fire broke out in a Torbay residence on Thursday morning.
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary, fire department and Eastern Health paramedics responded around 9 a.m. after someone had noticed smoke coming from the house on Torbay Road.
Fire crews found a man on the second floor of the home. He was the only person in the house at the time.
Officials said the home sustained a lot of fire damage on the first floor and smoke damage on the second. Crews remained on scene for at least two hours.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
