Crews extinguished a fire Tuesday evening that struck a St. John's-area company that manufactures kitchen cabinets.
An employee at NuWay Kitchens in Paradise reported smoke in the building just after 7 p.m.
Supt. Don Byrne said crews arrived to find only a small amount of flame, but heavy smoke.
"Whenever you get these metal siding buildings, it's sort of like a tin can situation — you've got to open it up to get to it," he said.
Crews used saws to cut into the steel siding of the building.
"Once we did that, it was very quickly extinguished and brought under control," Byrne said.
There was no immediate word on the extent of damages.
