Fire damaged a home on Carmen Avenue in Corner Brook on Saturday morning.
Deputy fire Chief Bill Griffin told CBC a call came in around 8:30, and when the crew arrived, they found the house on fire.
There were two people inside, but they managed to escape unscathed.
Griffin said the fire crew did an excellent job of limiting the damage.
"It should go on record that everything went fine," Griffin said.
"Our guys got in, got to the scene of the fire and knocked it down as per normal, and you know the damage to the home was as limited as possible."
Griffin said the fire was limited to the kitchen, while the rest of the home received smoke and water damage.
The investigation into the cause of the fire is continuing.
