RCMP said Monday that a woman arrested after a fatal shooting at a home in Felix Cove, on Newfoundland's west coast, has been charged with break-and-enter, but is not suspected of firing the fatal shot.
Jasmine Pittman, 20, was arrested this weekend after RCMP found a dead man inside a Felix Cove house on Saturday morning.
Police said Monday that Pittman, a Stephenville resident, has been charged with breaking and entering with intent to commit an indictable offence.
In a statement, RCMP said officers learned during their investigation that a "confrontation took place where weapons were used, which resulted in the fatal shooting of a male."
The statement added, "It should be clarified that Pittman did not fire the weapon."
RCMP are still investigating the case, but say there is no risk to the public.
Pittman was being held for an appearance on Monday afternoon at provincial court in Stephenville.
