Falling equipment misses Hibernia worker by 3 metres

The province's offshore petroleum board says a worker on the Hibernia platform missed being hit by falling equipment by just three metres.

The province's offshore petroleum board says a worker on the Hibernia platform missed being hit by falling equipment by just three metres.

According to the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board, a casing thread protector fell from a height of approximately 10 metres while workers were running casing.

The equipment fell to the deck below, where a worker was just about three metres away.

According to the board, Hibernia Management and Development Company called the incident a "high potential near miss."

No injuries were reported.
