Police on the west coast charged a man with drunk driving after his truck ended up in a ditch outside Corner Brook.

RCMP said officers arrived on the scene at Humber Valley Resort around 11:30 a.m. on New Year's Day and arrested the driver, a resident of Campbellton.

Police said the man, 25, was "extremely intoxicated" while still behind the steering wheel of his truck. The truck was still idling by the time police arrived.

The man will appear in court on charges of impaired driving. He was released from custody.
