Drunk driver found at scene of accident, has $22K in fines
A single-vehicle accident in St. John's on Saturday night resulted in one man being detained for court.
The crash happened around 9 p.m.
While there were no injuries, the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary says the 37-year-old male driver was impaired.
Additionally, the man was charged with failing the breathalyzer, having open liquor in the vehicle, having no insurance, no driver's licence, operating an unregistered vehicle and failing to transfer ownership.
He also had $22,000 in outstanding fines.
The man's vehicle was impounded and he is scheduled to appear in provincial court in St. John's on Sunday.
