A man pulled over in Corner Brook late Monday night for impaired driving appears to have ignored the significance of his encounter with the police, as he was charged again just a few hours later.
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary said the force received a complaint about a drunk driver around 11:45 p.m. A patrol stopped a car in the O'Connell Drive area, and charged the driver with impaired driving and refusing a breathalyzer.
Police released the man, 40, on an order to appear in provincial court at a later date.
However, police caught up with the man at 2:45 a.m. — again behind the wheel of a vehicle.
He was given the same charges as before, as well as an additional charge of driving while suspended.
Police also kept the man in the lockup for the rest of the night, before a court appearance Tuesday.
